Acupuncture for orthopedic pain relief

Acupuncture is a safe, natural, and effective treatment for a wide range of orthopedic conditions. Whether you’re dealing with chronic joint pain, post-injury discomfort, or muscle stiffness, acupuncture can help restore balance, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

How acupuncture works

Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body. These points correspond to pathways called meridians, which help regulate the flow of energy, or “Qi.” Stimulating these points can:

  • Reduce inflammation and swelling in joints and tissues
  • Improve circulation to injured areas, promoting faster healing
  • Release natural pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins
  • Relax tight muscles and improve range of motion
  • Support overall musculoskeletal function

Conditions treated

Each treatment plan is individualized and adjusted as your body changes.

I work with patients experiencing

  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Postpartum pelvic changes / episiotomy scars
  • Urinary urgency, frequency
  • Urinary or fecal incontinence
  • Tailbone, sacral, low back pain
  • Endometriosis related pain
  • Vulvodynia
  • Menstrual pain
  • Pelvic trauma recovery / support
  • Constipation
  • Prostatitis
  • … and more

Pelvic floor care for people of all genders.

What to expect

Many people seeking pelvic care and pain relief have had experiences that make trust difficult. My commitment is simple:

  • Your body, your pace.
  • Consent is ongoing, not one-time.
  • You can decline any technique without explanation.
  • I will explain what I’m doing and why.
  • Your privacy is protected.
  • Your feelings and boundaries are honored, always.

Healing is most effective when you feel respected and safe. My role is to support, not push.

Your first visit is calm, gentle, and paced around your comfort.

  1. A conversation first. We start by talking about your symptoms, your goals, and anything you want me to know about your comfort and needs or past experiences. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels right.
  2. Clothing & draping. I always recommend wearing loose comfortable clothing that’s easy to work with and/or remove. You will always be appropriately draped upon removal of clothing.
  3. Treatment. Acupuncture and dry needling technique will be used in affected areas. Pelvic focused treatments often use external points in the pelvic diaphragm/sling, as well as the abdomen, hips, low back and legs. There are no internal pelvic exams or acupuncture/dry needling.
  4. Make a plan. We will discuss how many visits may help, go over any lifestyle support, and/or emotional/physical concerns you may have. This is your treatment, you guide me!

Pelvic pain can affect how you move, rest, work, connect, and feel at home in your body. Whether your symptoms are chronic or new, subtle or severe, my goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care in a safe, professional, and supportive environment. I work with conditions including pelvic pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, sexual pain, and tension-related disorders, always tailoring treatment to your unique anatomy and lived experience.

Healing begins when you feel heard. My practice is built on listening, precision, and compassionate care, so you don’t have to navigate pelvic pain alone.

Struggling with joint, muscle, or back pain? Acupuncture offers a natural, drug-free solution that targets the root cause of your discomfort. Unlike medications, acupuncture addresses the underlying causes of pain, helping you move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free. Acupuncture works best as part of a comprehensive orthopedic care plan. It can complement physical therapy, exercise, and other conservative treatments, helping patients regain function and reduce dependence on pain medications.

When you are here, you’re not a set of symptoms. You’re a whole person, and together we create a treatment plan that honors that.

Healing begins when you feel heard.

FAQ

Text or email for quickest response: 504-470-3891 or [email protected].

Do I need to undress?

I will need access to different parts of the body during your session. It’s best to wear comfortable, stretchy clothing. If I need you to get undressed, you will be draped accordingly so you’re not exposed.

Is internal acupuncture used?

No. There is no internal work with acupuncture/dry needling.

Does it hurt?

While I aim to be as gentle as possible, you might experience some discomfort during your session if we are working with hypertonic musculature. Some sensations you might feel are soreness, achy, warmth, a muscle ‘twitch’.

How many visits?

This varies from patient to patient and depends highly on the condition. Many patients feel improvement within 3–6 sessions, but each body is unique.

Do you take insurance?
